You must download the Official Rules of the 2016 Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month Art Contest. All submissions require a signed copy of the written rules and sent in with your artwork. Download Official Rules
Submit an art piece
Artwork Theme: "Why you want to go surfing with Mauli Ola in Hawaii this December 2016?" We want to see what this topic inspires in you. It can be a drawing, story, painting, sculpture, video, poem, etc.
Write a short story
In addition to the artwork, please describe, in 400 words or less, your artwork and why you want to go surfing with Mauli Ola in Hawaii this December 2016.
Mail your submissions
Please carefully package your artwork, short story, and signed copy of the Official Rules with a postmark no later than June 29, 2016 and mail to 120 Vantis Suite 300 Aliso Viejo, California 92656.

Voting will take place during July 18th - July 22nd with a panel of judges from the MOF Corporate Team. First, second, and third place winners will be announced: July 27, 2016.

BENEFITS OF SURFING W/ MAULI OLA
When an individual breathes in hypertonic saline, water gets drawn out of the lining in the lungs, the same way it gets drawn out of your skin when you swim. Since people with CF have thick, sticky mucus in the lungs, the extra water can mix with it and make the mucus thinner and easier to cough out.
Please print out the Official Rules. Read and sign if agreed with all the rules and regulations, and check the box at the bottom of the form. This is to be submittted in the mail or electronically with the participants artwork.
Contest Eligibility
You MUST be a patient with cystic fibrosis in order to be eligible.The winner MUST prove his or her eligibility by providing proper documentation.
- You may not enter if you are under the age of 13 years old.
- No purchase is necessary to participate in the contest.
- The contest is open to residents of the 50 United States, The District of Columbia, and United States Territories (collectively, the “Territory”).
- This contest is void outside of the Territory and where prohibited.
- Employees of the Mauli Ola Foundation or any of its affiliates and their immediate family members are not eligible to win.
Judging and Winner
A panel of judges from the Mauli Ola Foundation Corporate team will review entries. Selected participants artwork will be featured at the North Shore Benefit in December 2016.
- Voting will take place July 18, 2016 – July 22, 2016.
- Finalist will be selected and notified by phone and email on Wednesday July 27, 2016.
- Second place runner up will receive a certificate of recognition, Mauli Ola gear, and have the opportunity to substitute for the first place winner if he/she and guest cannot make scheduled dates
- Third place runner up will receive a certificate of recognition, Mauli Ola gear, and have the opportunity to substitute for the first place winner if the first and second place winner are not able to make the scheduled dates.
Winner Prize
The winner of the contest is rewarded a trip to Hawaii with a guest. Airfare, lodging, and rental car will be coordinated by a Mauli Ola Foundation representative. The winnings are included below. Outside of the set accomodations and events, the participant and guest are free to plan their own agenda. The MOF is happy to share contacts for horseback rides, snorkeling, etc. Should the family choose to bring more guests with them, it will be at their own expense.
- Round-trip airfare for two from home airport to Oahu (1 for the winner, 1 winner's guest)
- Lodging at North Shore on Oahu.
- 1 Rental car for duration of stay.
- Winner must agree to give a speech at our annual North Shore Benefit Concert in December 2016.
- Winner will also attend our Hale’iwa Surf Experience Day on Oahu in December 2016.
