My name is Princess Bella and I just turned 9 years old�but I am not like any princess you have met. First I LOVE dragons and second, I don�t lounge around singing and dancing ALL day, instead I spend hours every day fighting invaders to my kingdom. I am writing this letter ask for your help in fighting my biggest enemy�the evil witch Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis has been after me my entire life. She came to my hospital room when I was born and because of her I had surgery when I was only 2 days old. The witch cursed me, leaving a scary scar on my belly and plaguing me with trouble ever since. I have to take a lot of pills to be able to digest my food�but still live with stomach pains all the time. I have tried to stay brave because I don�t want everyone in the kingdom to worry.
I feel like Rapunzel trapped in my tower � all alone while I do long breathing treatments every morning and night. I have a special vest that helps me breathe because this curse is also in my lungs. I have endured countless visits to the kingdom of UNC and the witch succeeded in infecting me with a terrible bacterium called Pseudomonas off and on through the years. She has waylaid me several times in the hospital but with the help of my parents and the royal medical team I have been able to fight and win every time.
There is more trouble brewing because this curse is spreading and has now invaded my sinuses. Things may seem dire but word has recently reached my kingdom that treatments --able to lift my curse --have come from generous donations from wonderful people like you.
I will never give up my fight against the evil witch Cystic Fibrosis and I know with your help we can destroy her evil hold over the health of tens of thousands of people.
