mpian Medical Professional

  • Encinitas, CA

I was introduced to surfing by Rudy Kroon when I was a Santa Monica Junior Lifeguard in the late 60's, but surfed only intermittently due to professional obligations until returning to UCSD as a faculty member at the School of Medicine in '97. My return to surfing coincided with my assuming the directorship of the UCSD Cystic Fibrosis Center, and my linking of my professional life with CF and my love of surfing stems from a phone call from James Dunlop asking me to help develop a surf experience day in San Diego.
